I used to be a guard then driver based at the Hainault depot and we used to cover the Epping-Onger line. I remember the Station master at Blake hall. His name, and I kid you not, was Percy Husband!. He was lovely guy and he kept the station immaculately, especially the flowers in the summer. He would often have a cup of tea waiting for you when you and your guard pulled to the station and he would take back the 'empties' when you stopped on the way back. The fact that the station has now been 'converted' into a hideous 'new build' piece of crap is a absolute crime against architecture!

I was there on May 14th, my birthday. The old carriage bodies which were used as shelters had all been removed and were nowhere to be seen. The red single car, which I have never seen in use, had been moved to the pier head, on the track next to Sir William Heygate. I don’t know if it has been withdrawn.

Rode this boat with my dad in August 2016.

We have nearly identical trams from Variobahn here in Norway (in my hometown of Bergen), ours started operating on 21st of July 2010 and have an identical design, save for different colours (orange where yours is green, grey where yours is white and black where yours is blue, and our seats are grey and the poles inside are orange instead of green.) And our trams are part of the Bybanen light rail line here.

I visited Sydney at the start of 1991, they operated 4 and 6 car trains back on those days on top of the 8 car trains. The Tangara trains (4 car sets) amazed me as a kid back then. The red trains were still running back then as well but I never got to ride on one. (Only Tangaras and Comengs)

Ah, the good old Drain Train, used it back in 1971/2 when I started work as an apprentice electrician with the LEB as it was then. The main training centre was at Camden Town, but we had block release one week a month to Southwark College in the Cut. Good days.

None of them have been used for any proposes whatsoever since 2007, when the T agreed to complete ten out of the fifteen remaining Type 8 car shells (3885-3894), for a total fleet of 95.

Also, the five incomplete Type 8 car shells (3895-3899) were moved to the Orient Heights Yard in East Boston sometime in 2016, formerly stored outside the MBTA’s primary vehicle repair shop in Everett, MA. As of June 2024, these shells have still not been completed since the deal was announced 17 years ago. 😮 They are still sitting outside Orient Heights Yard to this day, untouched since 2007. There are currently no plans to complete these five cars, 17 years later. They might be used to fix wrecked Type 7 rebuilds in the future, but who knows what they’ll do with them, given that this is the T we’re talking about. They said that, but none of them have been used, not even to fix wrecked Type 7s involved in accidents, so I don’t know that the T’s plan is.

Also, the first few cars delivered, in 1999, were failing at numbers below 700 miles, at a whopping only every 400 miles, before a breakdown occurred, which was far off the MBTA’s recommended standard of every 9,000 miles. The failing cars far off the MBTA’s specifications during the first few months in service, was just one of the many bugs that had to be worked or ironed out on the fleet before it could assume full operation on the B branch and the Green Line system overall.

The fact that these trains were 49 years old when this was recorded and they sounded like class 313 s ,class 314s ,class 315s, class 317s, class 318s, class 319s, class 320s, class 321s, class322s, class 325s, class 768s, class 769s, and class 799s is pretty crazy
